First-Generation Resources
As former first-generation college students who are now on the other side, we understand the unique experiences that come with this. At Mizzou, we celebrate not just first-generation students but faculty, staff and their families! Our goal is to provide a supportive and welcoming community that celebrates and honors all first-generation Tigers.
First-Generation Faculty/Staff Initiative
The First-Generation Faculty/Staff Initiative aims to elevate the visibility of MU faculty, staff, and academic leaders who were themselves first-generation college students. The First-Generation Faculty/Staff Initiative is a network of first-generation professionals committed to supporting first-generation students. They are active in their respective unit, promote their first-generation identities, and advocate for the first-generation community at University of Missouri.
Tri-Alpha
Faculty and staff are eligible to be inducted into Tri-Alpha, a national honor society for First-Generation college students.
First-Generation Celebration Week
Help us celebrate First-Generation Celebration week every November.
Book Club
In collaboration with Mizzou Libraries, we have introduced a new monthly book club for faculty and staff. We choose a first-generation related book to read for the semester and meet on Zoom biweekly.
